Selling Furniture – What’s it Worth
The market sets the price and the market varies.
Broken and stained items won’t sell unless they’re antiques or vintage pieces. Oak and furniture from 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s is a difficult to sell. Ethan Allen furniture always sells regardless of age. Home office furniture and bunk beds are in demand. Pottery Barn, Crate & Barrel, and Restoration Hardware merchandise sells fast. Custom made furniture can be like wallpaper, difficult for others to love. TV armoires are out and Plasma TV cabinets are in. Moderately styled contemporary furniture in but the extreme contemporary is slow to sell.
Furniture that cost a lot new will typically take a bigger price hit than medium priced items. Low quality items are difficult to sell used and might be better suited for donation.
Asking price isn’t always selling price. Try to find out how much an item sold for when setting your price expectations. Consignment stores are a great resource for pricing and selling used furniture.

Buying Furniture – How to find the Values
Used furniture and home décor can be purchased at up-to 70% off retail in Consignment Stores. We recommend shopping at quality consignment stores before considering new merchandise at retail stores. Some items are difficult to find used so new will be your only option.
